The Anniston Alumnae Chapter was chartered on May 30, 1965, at the home of Soror Dorothy Banks. The National President at that time was Geraldine P. Woods. The Southern Regional Director, Soror Maggie McDowell officiated.
The Anniston Alumnae Chapter was the first Black organized sorority in Anniston. The Chapter's service areas include Calhoun, Cleburne and St. Clair Counties.
The eleven charter members present were: Dorothy Banks, Mildred Bush, Sarah Cook, Mattie Cunningham, Eleanor Holman, Mary Jones, Vola Kennedy, Josephine McCall, Ann Moorer, Bertha Trammell, Mildred Whately. Soror Doris Hines was absent preparing for the immediate arrival of her first son. Soror Agnes Rodgers was later declared by Grand Chapter to be a charter member.
